Foro - How do you handle constant design corrections?

In this post, I’ll review my forum entry called “How do you handle constant design corrections?” For activity Foro.

Instructions: Think about the worst situation for a graphic designer. Try to describe the whole situation and give at least one solution.

A graphic designer solves visual problems or needs, all the time. Regardless, there will be clients who request endless modifications, even if you have good feedback from them.

For example, I had a job as an administrative assistant where I helped to edit videos and ecommerce photography without any knowledge and experience as a graphic designer.

At the beginning, it was okay because my boss and I had a small talk about what kind of social media content he liked. The issue came when I began posting copywriting on each post. My boss didn't like the tone of the messages, and he made me delete and repost reels, stories and posts several times. This situation brought a lack of self-confidence.

After that, I had a conversation with my boss about my feelings, and he apologized for the bad time, and we agreed to change the strategy: he would write copywriting, and I would edit videos and images. Finally, it worked.

For this story, I gave a few recommendations if someone gets stuck with a problematic client or boss:

  1. Having a positive attitude helps to avoid frustration. There could be countless design changes that will come from each work.

  2. Establishing, from the beginning, the number of changes that could have a design. It’ll limit abuse behavior and avoid going beyond deadlines.

  3. Having receipts, emails, and documents for each change that the client requests. Ensure payment evasion.

To sump up, I liked this exercise because I can remember a bad situation and then look for advice in articles like GRAPHIC DESIGNER TIPS: ¿Cómo manejar constantes correcciones en los diseños? de Jessica Martinez. And getting my own thoughts as a result is therapeutic somehow because my perspective has changed. And now, I have tools to handle graphic design issues.

That’s it, I have to say goodbye, thank you for reading!
